Every Person Has Abilities Worth Discovering.
Abilities Ranch exists to create opportunities for individuals with diverse abilities to discover confidence, independence, connection, belonging, and a greater sense of what is possible.
We use meaningful challenges, encouragement, supportive relationships, and partnership with horses to meet people where they are — and then help them discover where they can go next.
How It Started
Abilities Ranch didn't begin with a building, a program manual, or even a long-term plan. It began by seeing a need and asking what we could do about it. What started with opportunities for individuals to spend time around horses began revealing something much bigger. We saw fear turn into confidence.
We watched relationships develop.
We saw participants accomplish things that they — or sometimes the people around them — weren't sure they could do. And we began to understand that the horse wasn't the destination. The relationship, the challenge, the accomplishment, and the person were what mattered.
That realization became Abilities Ranch.
Our Mission
Our mission is to help individuals discover what they are capable of by creating meaningful experiences, genuine relationships, and opportunities for growth. Through therapeutic riding, equine-assisted programs, Special Olympics, and a community built on encouragement and belonging, we help each participant build confidence, independence, and belief in their own potential.
What Success Looks Like
Success doesn't look the same for everyone.
For one participant, it may mean riding independently.
For another, it may mean touching a horse for the first time.
It might mean following a direction, communicating a need, developing balance, trusting another person, trying something uncomfortable, or simply finding a place where they feel like they belong.
We don't compare one person's progress to another person's progress.
We look for their next step.
And when they take it, we celebrate it.
